At this year's ITES (March 31 – April 3, Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center), China's ultra-large industrial exhibition, HIPPSC introduced the CobotFlow automation cell: not through slides, not through simulation, but through live, continuous demos running in real time on the show floor.
This wasn't a concept. It was a proven workflow.
What We Demonstrated
The CobotFlow cell ran a fully integrated CNC tool preparation process from start to finish, with zero manual intervention:
Real-time tool holder data recognition — the system identifies each tool holder automatically, reading its specs and matching it to the correct process parameters.
Intelligent low-temperature shrink fitting — using HIPPSC's precision induction heating technology, tools are shrink-fitted at controlled low temperatures, protecting both the holder and cutting tool while achieving the grip force and concentricity that high-speed machining demands.
Fully automated tool presetting — once fitted, the tool assembly moves directly to presetting, where length and runout are measured and verified — all within the same automated cell.
Every step flows into the next. No handoffs. No waiting. No operator standing at a machine.

Why Manufacturers Stopped at Our Booth
The response from visitors — manufacturers, production engineers, and shop owners from across the Pearl River Delta and beyond — was clear. The industry isn't just curious about automation anymore. They're actively looking for practical ways to:
Reduce downtime at scale. The CobotFlow cell demonstrated 80%+ reduction in tool preparation time compared to manual workflows. For shops running multiple CNC machines, that downtime savings compounds fast.
Improve safety. Manual shrink fitting means operators handling extremely hot tool holders with tongs and gloves. CobotFlow removes the human from that loop entirely.
Increase overall shop efficiency. When tool preparation is no longer a bottleneck, the entire production floor moves faster. Visitors saw up to 5× throughput potential in tool prep operations.
Beyond the Technology
What stood out most wasn't just the demo itself — it was the quality of conversations that followed. Visitors weren't asking "what does it do?" They were asking:
- How quickly can we integrate this into our existing CNC setup?
- What's the ROI timeline for a shop running 10+ machines?
- Can this handle our specific holder types (HSK, CAT, BBT)?
- How does this fit into a lights-out manufacturing strategy?
These are implementation questions. Scalability questions. That shift — from "interesting idea" to "how do we deploy this" — tells us something important about where the industry is heading.

The Path to Dark Factory
A dark factory doesn't happen overnight. It happens one automated workflow at a time. Tool preparation — the repetitive, time-consuming, safety-critical process that every CNC shop deals with daily — is one of the most logical starting points.
CobotFlow is what that starting point looks like in practice.
Thank You
A big thank you to everyone who visited our booth at ITES 2026, shared insights, asked hard questions, and explored what's next for CNC tool preparation automation with us.
We're just getting started.
